We are delighted to host Max, a 6 year old English Labrador retriever and award-winning author!!

What?  A dog is an author?  Yes, you read correctly.  Max and his dad, Anthony, wrote Dogs Move Too!  From Max’s Point of View, a story that details how Max had to move and how he and his friends adjusted to the move.  He even won several awards for the book!

And, he’s created a coloring book!!

And now Max has written a new book and has emBARKed on a book tour that has him visiting 36 blogs in 36 days.  Woof!  That dog is hitting the road hard!

The new book is really cute and educational.  It’s called Dogs Work Too!  From Max’s Point of View and in it he tells the reader how dogs work, particularly the Leader Dogs that assist visually impaired and blind people.

Ariel and I received an advance copy of the book to read and we really enjoyed it.  She especially loved the pictures that were on every page… sweet dogs, adorable puppies, some sleeping, some playing, some just hanging out.  You might remember that we have a cute little beagle that Ariel adores.  So a book about dogs is right up her alley.

Colorful, entertaining (we got to meet CoCo!), and educational (I’m all about that!)–Dogs Work Too!  From Max’s Point of View has a lot going for it.  And it has a lot going for the group Leader Dogs For The Blind, who will receive a portion of all sales of Max’s books.  I love that part too!

Ariel also enjoyed learning about how the leader dogs are trained and was quite interested when she found out that some dogs know sign language…and she promptly sat on the floor and tried to sign Silent Night (which she learned at church at Christmastime) to her dog (who just tried to lick her!)

So, Max, welcome!  We have peanut butter biscuits for you (I promise, we didn’t let our pup get to them yet!) and are so glad to have you!  Good luck with the promotion of this great book and fantastic cause!  We’re so glad to be a part of your tour!!

And speaking of the tour, Max is giving away two $50 Visa gift cards to two followers of Max’s Pawsitively Exciting Children’s Book Blog Tour.  It’s easy to qualify.  Just follow each blog site on the tour, collecting a “Max word of the day” from each site.  At the end of the tour, put all the words together in one sentence and post that sentence correctly.  The first two posters will each win a $50 Visa gift card!  What a great giveaway!!

Today’s “Max word of the day” is “our.”

Would you like to win a “paw”tographed copy of a Max book?  We’re giving one away, as well as a copy of that cute coloring book!!  It’s easy to enter.  You must leave a comment here to qualify, telling me your favorite dog breed.  That is mandatory.

I finally made it! This is Max! I am so glad to be visiting your site today! First, thank you for having me. I am so glad you enjoyed my book. Yes the picture of my adventure are my favoriate. I have many more but unfortunately couldn’t fit them all in my book. So, over time I will be posting them to facebook, my blog, and website.

You mentioned you were interested to know that some Leader Dogs know sign language. Currently, Leader Dog is the only facility in the Western Hemisphere to teach Deaf-blind students to work with a guide dog. Talk about Great!

Did You Know:
American Sign Language ranks six in the USA with estimated users in the order of 500,000 to 2,000,000 signers (speakers). Source: Harlan Lane, Robert Hoffmeister, and Ben Bahan – A journey into the deaf-world (San Diego, Calif.: DawnSignPress, 1996, p.42).

It is so neat those who learn and know sign language. I am actually creating a interactive video that will teach children there ABC’s and Sign Language. It will be out in a few months because of all the animations that need to be done.

Well, I am here for the day. Leave Message and I will comment. In the mean time, if you don’t mind I will go and take a snack break. I wouldn’t want to be rude and not enjoy the treats you purchased for me. I even share with my new friend Little Begal Friend.

Hugs and Licks:

Max!

I guess my favorite dog breed is what my dog Rufus is. We thought he was a mutt but I read online that a cross between a dachshund and a pekingese is a new dog type that people are breeding. I just think Rufus is funny and adorable..:)
